Angela Cullenspent several years as a physiotherapist and confidant to Lewis Hamilton at the height of his Formula 1 success, but they suddenly split early last year
Angela Cullen spent many years as one of Lewis Hamilton’s most trusted aides.
Angela Cullen has been spotted working with another motorsport star a year on from her split from Lewis Hamilton.
For seven years, Cullen was physiotherapist to Mercedes racer Hamilton. More than that, she was one of his most trusted allies in the paddock and played a key role in helping him to win five drivers’ titles in six years between 2015 and 2020.
Last March, it was announced that they would no longer be working together. And Cullen spent the rest of last year enjoying some down time while she considered what her next move would be.
And it appears she has now made a decision on that front. Cullen seems to have joined forces with fellow New Zealander Marcus Armstrong, who is preparing for his first full season as an IndyCar driver.
Testing began on Friday at The Thermal Club in California. And, while wandering down pit road, AP IndyCar reporter Jenna Fryer noticed that Cullen was with the Chip Ganassi crew sporting a pair of headphones.
Hamilton remains winless in F1 since his split from Cullen last year, with Mercedes still struggling for performance compared to their dominant Red Bull rivals. Weeks after confirming the news last March, the seven-time champion spoke of how important her presence in his life had been.

He said: “Angela is living her life right now. She’s got so many ideas of things she wants to do. We message pretty much every day. We are still going to skydive together. We are always going to be in each other’s lives.
We’re stuck with each other, unfortunately, or fortunately! We’ve been through thick and thin. I am grateful our relationship is as good as it is. We’ve probably had one of the longest relationships, I would say, in the sport. I am incredibly grateful for her, I love her dearly.”
Posting on social media to announce her split with Hamilton, Cullen wrote: “It’s been such an honour and pleasure to stand alongside you. I’m so proud of you and everything you have achieved. Thank you for supporting me, believing in me and showing me the limitless potential we all have within us. I am so excited to watch the next chapter for you. There’s nothing you can’t do.
